Shadow Tricks asks the question: What can we do with light and cloth and paper?
In this workshop, shadow play is explored with the simple use of cloth, paper and lights, enabling participants to consider how many different ways shadows can appear.
Students will explore everything from human form to cardboard cut-outs, playing with scale and the limitless possibilities of the worlds we can create on a screen. Perfect for Kindergarten all the way through to VCE Drama students, Shadow Tricks can be tailored for your classroom. Older students can explore – non-naturalistic performance styles; more complex puppetry design and manipulation; transformation of object; play-within-a-play; and multiple narratives – offering new ways to consider devising ensemble performance.
